Delaware Delegation Attends National 4-H Conference// here is the normal content // ?>
The 2018 National 4-H Conference was held from April 7th thru the 12th at the National 4-H Conference Center in Washington, D.C. Over three hundred delegates from 4-H clubs across America represented their home states. Delaware 4-H was proud to have ten terrific delegates in attendance which included Hunter Willoughby from New Castle County; Maci Carter, Garrett Geidel, Shannon O’Hara, Rachel Taylor and Leslie Webb from Kent County; and Jenna Anger, Meredith Carey, Kyle Morris, and Daniel Tull from Sussex County.
With the main focus of the conference being one in which 4-H youth develop their leadership and communication skills in order to present position papers to various agencies within the federal government, delegates were busy the entire week, working hard in order to craft presentations that were meaningful and substantive. Roundtable sessions that were attended included Juvenile Justice, Homeland Security, Agriculture Policy and Civility.
In addition, Delaware 4-H members were able to meet and hear from federal officials such as United States Secretary of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue and visit with Senator Tom Carper and Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester.
Funding for delegates to attend was generously provided by the Delaware 4-H Foundation and the State 4-H staff looks forward to another round of applicants seeking to attend the 2019 conference which is now just eleven short months away!
