Kent County 4-H Afterschool is now working with 5 different groups across the county. 4-H Afterschool is a program designed to help youth with both academics and life skills, using 4-H curricula along with other curricula that meets national education standards. Partnering with the Delaware State Housing Authority, 4-H Afterschool has programs at Liberty Court and Mifflin Meadows, both in Dover, and Clarks Corner in Harrington. 4-H Afterschool has also started a new partnership with Ingerman Management to host a program in their Capital Green Development.

All afterschool programs in these communities have one main goal – to help the youth that participate become productive adults. Meeting five days a week, these free programs help with homework, provide tutoring and a nutritious snack. The youth also get to participate in fun and educational 4-H activities, such as Videography, the Arts, Science, Self-Esteem workshops and Healthy lifestyles programming.

The 4-H Military Program is also supporting 4-H Afterschool program through the Soaring Eagles 4-H Club. Monday through Wednesday, children ages 8 to 18 years old can work in a variety of 4-H projects that include Robotics, Healthy Cooking and Nutrition, Performing Arts and Arts and Crafts. On Thursday, children ages 5-7 year sold get to experience 4-H type activities. This free program is open to all youth that are affiliated with the Military.
