Dr. Richards’ entire career has been dedicated to pesticide safety and agriculture education. Currently Dr. Richards’ has focused her efforts on pesticide safety education for Delaware growers with the University of Delaware Pesticide Safety Education Program, and at the national level as the Education Program Developer for the National Pesticide Safety Education Center (NPSEC). She is also currently serving as the president of the American Association of Pesticide Safety Educators. Her goal in all of these efforts is to provide the growers and consumers with the best science based information regarding pesticides and the safe use of pesticide products.
She began her career teaching agricultural production for five years at Oxford High School in southern Chester County. For the 27 years her career focused on pesticide safety education for a diversity of pesticide applicator stakeholders in Pennsylvania. For the past seven years she served as the Director of Penn State’s Pesticide Education Program.
Hunter is an incoming Freshman at the University of Delaware majoring in Agriculture and Natural Resources with a minor in Pre-Med. He was highly involved in both FFA and 4-H being his FFA Chapter’s President, NCC State Teen Council representative for 4-H and National 4-H Design Team Member. Outside of that, he does photography and videography for his school, family, and friends. His goal with this site and project is to provide user-friendly and easily accessible public knowledge on the topic of pesticide safety. Hunter is currently an intern at Delaware Farm Bureau and at the Carvel Research Center.
