National Youth Engineering Challenge

This event is designed to give 4-H members an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in the areas of lawn care, business management, and lawn and garden tractor (less than 20 Hp) operation, maintenance and safety while competing with other 4-Hers.  Safety is stressed throughout the contest.

>>>Mandatory driving training is required for those who have never participated in this event at the State Fair.

Farm Tractor Contest:

This event is designed to give 4-H members an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of tractor maintenance and skill in operation, and compete with other 4-Hers in so doing.  Safety will be stressed throughout the contest.

  • Contest Rules:
    “Conducting 4-H Petroleum Power Operator’s Contests” (4-H 84) contains all the rules and suggestions for conducting an agricultural tractor and lawn and garden tractor operator contests. NOTE: Each page in the rulebook contains a date in the upper right corner of the page. As rule changes are made those pages affected will show the new date.
  • Conducting 4-H Petroleum Power Operator’s Contests (4-H 84)Contest Dress Requirements for Engineering Events: Hard-toed shoes covering entire foot (i.e., work boots, steel-toed not necessary), long pants, belt, shirt tucked in (no excessively loose clothing), no jewelry, and long hair should be controlled.
